Between Heaven and Earth

Chapter 11 Summary

The chapter begins with DJ waiting for the East African Walking Tours pre climb meeting to begin.  While waiting, DJ decides he would like to text his mother and Steve and let them know he safe and ready to begin his Grandfather’s task.  To his surprise, Steve had already contacted DJ from Spain, where he is completing his task.  DJ also runs into an older lady that he met prior at the customs office.  DJ is shocked to learn that she also will be accompanying his tour group on their journey to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.  When the meeting begins, Elijah Odogo, the tour guide and Sarah’s father outlines the itinerary and informs the tourists of the risks involved in climbing the mountain.  Each climber will be designated two porters to carry their belongings.  DJ constantly challenges Sarah’s father to his demise and remains optimistic that this task will be straight-forward.
