  • Both an oral presentation and writing task
Lauren Hill, a college student from Cincinnati was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, a year ago. Lauren had two goals that she wanted to accomplish while she was still able to.   First, she wanted to play in a college basketball game and secondly, she wanted to raise money for paediatric charities. She accomplished both!

Speechless, blown away, remarkable, sad.... are the first thoughts that ran through my head when I watched those inspirational videos.  It's hard to imagine where Lauren gets her courage and strength from.  As a coach and educator, one of my main objectives is to teach my students/athletes the importance of resilience, hard work, and to be a true sportsman.  Through sport, Lauren and her teammates certainly demonstrate character traits that any parent would be proud of.  You may see a girl playing basketball, I see a girl who lives life to it's fullest and doesn't take anything for granted.  Lauren, you are an inspiration to everyone!
