Lit Circle Project

Model for Lit Circle Project

This image represents the idea that you should not judge a book by its cover. I think this idea is important
throughout Freak the Mighty. Max has grown up with people around him thinking he is like his father, because he is
large and tough looking. They also don't think he is very smart. Only Freak sees another side to him.
The same is also true of Kevin "Freak", because he has a physical disability people judge him. Of course, it turns out
he is tougher and braver than most people expect. He is also the smartest person Max knows.

I chose this image to represent loyalty. Dogs are supposed to be "man's best friend" and from my experience they are
definitely loyal. In Freak the Mighty, it is a story about a special friendship, but most importantly, I think it is about loyalty.
Freak and Max are best friends and both prove it at different points in the story. Freak loads up his water gun
(my favourite part) and comes to Max's rescue. Max stays at the hospital when Freak is sick even though there is nothing
he can do.

    App Logo Design

    Apple/Netflix  Design !

You have been hired by Apple or Netflix! Congratulations! Your job is to design a new logo to represent either company. This logo must fit all of the six success criteria. It many not just be the old logo but in a new colour, they want something new and interesting. This can be done digitally or by hand.  with your design you are to explain how your logo fits all six of the criteria. Remember they are…

    1.   Simple: One recognizable, powerful image (Colour choice a simple one colour, one image logo)

    2.   Appropriate for the business: Relates to the product name or what the product does

    3.   Memorable: A good logo makes a connection to the product and makes the user think or catches their attention.

    4.   Versatile: Image works in all sizes (no little details that are to hard to read or see)

    5.   Timeless. Works easily with a company name now and in the future.

    6.   Audience: Who is the logo designed for?

    Example App Review

    Does TSN GO Really Go?
    By: Mr. Hussey

(Introduction) I recently downloaded TSN GO for my Samsung Ace 2X. This app made by TSN is a version of the same app that exists for all “I” devices. (let me do) The app advertises that it is a complete sports app allowing me to look at scores and stats from across the sports world. It does this allowing me access to many sports leagues including games, statistics, scores, headlines and videos. (cost, ads and ease of use) The app while being free to download and of advertisements has the fundamental flaw that every third time I go to use it, it will not load and I have to exit completely and try again, this can be frustrating especially if you are looking for quick updates on sports games.

(Sound and Graphics) The design of this app is fairly user friendly all of the graphics are touchable and easy to use, the app itself is sound free but that is fine, as I do not need sounds to check my sports scores. (interactive) The app is fairly interactive allowing me to see individual player or team stats by simply touching their picture or going to the appropriate menu feature.  (layout) This being said I would not say that this app is particularly easy to use. The app opens up with the main scores of the teams you are following but once you are in the menu for more features is hidden in the corner and can be unresponsive to touch. This happens for the sub menus as well.

(customization) Overall this app can be customized for different users allowing you to choose what scores you see on the central score board meaning that you only get the information that you want. (content access and load time) The content is easily accessed through the menu screen, though it can take a while to load and leave your whole phone unusable causing you to miss important phone calls, texts or e-mails.  (conclusion) Overall I would say this is a good app for a sports fan but if you fear losing your phone to load screens and excessive data this may not be the app for you. (score) I give it a 10/15.

    Mental Illness Investigation

    Mental Illness Investigation

You and your group will be responsible for researching a Mental Illness.  You will be creating 1. A Fact sheet on this mental illness for the rest of the class. 2 A mask that shows how the mental illness is perceived and how you see the world if you have this mental illness. 3 A personal reflection based on the word you have chosen and 4. a simulation event for at least two other classmates to try.  You will be presenting this mental illness, mask and activity to the class.

We will be working on this project in stages.

    Part one: Fact Sheet.

Answer the following questions about your mental illness.

These should be fairly short answers think about writing a brochure only the most important information.

    1.   Learn what that illness is. Name.
    2.   Signs and symptoms.
    3.   How it develops/where it can come from.
    4. Can this illness lead to substance abuse? (drugs/alcohol)

    5.    Help that is there for those in need. Who can they Call/ Contact? What do these locations do for them?

For this fact sheet you need to use four sources two can be the ones I gave you. Two have to be ones that you find on your own.

Use Google research to post the links to your research.

    Fact Sheet Success Criteria:

    • Each question is answered with sufficient detail. (2-3 sentances)
    • Information is easy to read and understand (does not make me look at this and go "this is to much for me to read").
    • Laid out in an easy manner.
    • It is clear what illness is being talked about.
    • Clear four sources used for research.
    • In your own words
    • Involved in your group work

    Overall Rubric- All Four Stages.
